Hearty (ハーティー Hātī?)[1] is a flower rabbit that was rescued from the Rainbow Forest and is being kept at the Research Tower.
Biography[]
During Circus's 2nd Ship's investigation into Karoku's whereabouts, the team is attacked by a lone Varuga. As Yogi is fighting the creature, a few flower rabbits get scared and are stuck in the middle of the battlefield. Seeing this, Nai runs from cover to get to them and Gareki follows, trying to get Nai back where it's safe. The Varuga shoot towards Nai, who is cradling the terrified rabbits. Yogi barely makes it in time to shield them, but the Varuga veer off suddenly and go after Gareki instead, carrying him off deeper into the forest. Yogi chases after them. Meanwhile, Akari tells Nai that the rabbits' injuries aren't bad, equating them to bruises on humans. However, he does say that leaving them injured in the wild would be a death sentence, so he decides to take them back to the Research Tower where they can recover.[2]
One of the rescued flower rabbits ends up staying on at the Research Tower, having grown very attached to Akari, who - despite his tendency to glower - is shown caring for the rabbit.[3]
While Nai and Yogi are playing with the rabbit, Yogi asks if he likes the name "Hearty," but instead of getting an answer, he receives a bite to his finger instead. A frightened Hearty escapes from Nai's hold and runs through the corridor, causing mayhem and nearly getting killed, having been mistaken for a rat by one of the nurses. However, in the commotion, he spots his favorite person, Akari, and hops over to him for safety.[4]
